English (ESL) TeachersKim AndersenKim founded Capital Region Language Center (formerly Las Mariposas) in April of 2003. She loves teaching both English (ESL) and Spanish. Her love of languages and culture began long before going to University and living in Washington DC, but that is when she realized that she would be a language teacher. That passion then followed her first to public school in San Francisco and then later to Paraguay. She has NYS certifications to teach both English and Spanish and enjoys teaching all ages. Now in her 15 year of teaching in a variety of settings in the US and abroad, Kim splits her time administering CRLC and teaching ESL and Spanish. Eileen LeeFor Eileen, teaching English has been an important part of her life from her childhood. Born in Ohio and raised in Pennsylvania, Eileen moved to Korea when she was eight, and her mother, a former elementary school teacher started teaching English to students in Korea at school and later on national television. Eileen herself was often recruited to do English recordings at a local radio station as a child, and in high school and university she tutored Korean elementary school students in English and loved to see her impact on them. Having learned both English and Korean during her childhood, Eileen has a pristine accent in both languages and is completely bi-cultural. She loves languages and has a B.A. in French Literature from Korea University and has studied French at University Catholique de l’Ouest in Angers France. She also loves photography and has worked as a commercial photographer in the U.S. Eileen is currently working on a Master’s in teaching English as a Second Language at SUNY Albany. Robin SchnellRobin loves teaching all levels of English to all ages. She has her Master's in teaching English as a Second Language from SUNY Albany. She holds a B.A. in Fine Arts from Indiana University. While her children were growing up she and her family hosted foreign exchange students, working with them to improve their English. Recently she began acting as a volunteer mentor and English teacher with refugees in the Capital Region. She loves to travel and maintains an insider's view of the language learning process by taking Spanish classes at CRLC. Diane Schrader: ESL Coordinator and InstructorOriginally from the Capital Region area, Diane has recently returned to the area after living in Spain for 20 years. Diane first became interested in other languages and cultures while completing her International Business degree at Elmira College (Elmira, NY), which eventually landed her in Spain. After settling there and earning her MBA in International Business, Diane discovered her vocation for teaching English as a Second Language and has been doing so for over 15 years to both children and adults. Vicki Tremper
Vicki earned a B.A. in French Language and Literature from Smith College
and a M.A. in International Relations from the University of South
Carolina. She spent a summer working for a software company in Paris
during college, her junior year studying at the Sorbonne, and 2-1/2
years working for a humanitarian aid agency in French-speaking
African country, Rwanda.
Her experiences of living abroad and learning French as a second
language have enhanced her own knowledge of English and desire to share
this through the teaching of ESL. Vicki is
state certified to teach French to grades
K-12, and has been teaching in after school programs in the capital
region for the past 5 years.
